Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to ensure the drink stays cold and slightly frothy when served.

2

Add the brandy, dark crème de cacao, heavy cream, and ice cubes to a cocktail shaker. Use the specified quantities from the ingredients section.

3

Shake vigorously for 12–20 seconds. A strong, energetic shake chills the mixture and aerates the cream to create a silky, slightly frothy texture.

4

Discard the ice or water from the chilled glass. Double-strain the shaken cocktail into the chilled glass using a Hawthorne or fine mesh strainer to remove ice shards and achieve a smooth finish.

Garnish

5

Grate a small amount of fresh nutmeg directly over the surface of the cocktail — about a light dusting (use the 'to taste' amount specified).

6

If desired, add a teaspoon of chocolate shavings on top for extra aroma and visual appeal.

7

Serve immediately. The Brandy Alexander is best enjoyed cold and freshly made.
