Base fruit selection (choose any combination; quantities listed are per 1 serving bowl)
Optional savory/refreshing add-ins
Dressing & finishing (optional)
Method
Prepare fruits
- 1
Wash all whole fruits and vegetables under cold running water. Pat dry with a clean towel.
- 2
Hull strawberries and cut into halves or quarters depending on size (use 1/2 cup per bowl).
- 3
Peel and cube melons (honeydew, cantaloupe) and watermelon into bite-size pieces (about 1/2 cup of each fruit chosen per bowl).
- 4
Trim core from pineapple and cut into 1/2-inch cubes (use 1/2 cup if selected).
- 5
Core the red apple, then dice into bite-size pieces; toss immediately in a small squeeze of lime juice if you want to reduce browning (use 1/2 cup).
- 6
Segment oranges and grapefruit over a bowl to catch juices, then cut segments into bite-size pieces (use 1/2 cup each if selected).
Prepare optional savory/refreshing add-ins
- 7
Trim and thinly slice celery (about 1/4 cup if added).
- 8
Peel and shred carrots or cut into thin matchsticks (about 1/4 cup if added).
- 9
Peel (optional) and dice cucumber into small cubes (about 1/4 cup if added).
- 10
If including vegetables, toss them lightly with a pinch of salt and a squeeze of lime to soften their flavor (optional).
Make dressing (optional)
- 11
Whisk dressing
In a small bowl, combine fresh lime juice (1 tsp), honey (1 tsp), and chopped mint (1 tsp). Whisk until honey dissolves. Season with sea salt (1/4 tsp) and a small pinch of black pepper if desired. Taste and adjust: add more honey for sweetness or more lime for brightness.
Assemble bowl
- 12
- 13
Combine selected fruits in a medium bowl and gently toss to distribute flavors and juices. If using apple, add it last and toss quickly to minimize browning.
- 14
If using the optional dressing, drizzle about half of the dressing over the mixed fruit (about 1/2–1 tsp per serving), then toss gently. Serve extra dressing on the side.
- 15
Transfer to a serving bowl or container. Garnish with additional mint if desired and serve immediately.
