Sparkling Soda

Method

Sparkling Soda

  1. 1

    Chill glass

If possible, place glass in freezer for 5 minutes or fill with ice for 1–2 minutes then discard excess water to help keep soda cold.

  2. 2

    Prepare ice

Place 4 ice cubes into a tall glass.

  3. 3

    Add sweetener (optional)

If you prefer sweet soda, add 1/2 tablespoon simple syrup (or your preferred sweetener) to the glass. Adjust amount to taste.

  4. 4

    Add citrus (optional)

Add 1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon or lime juice to the glass for a lightly flavored soda.

  5. 5

    Pour carbonated water

Slowly pour 1 cup (approx. 240 ml) cold carbonated water down the side of the glass to preserve bubbles and avoid excessive foam. Pour gently to just below the rim.

  6. 6

    Stir gently

Use a spoon or straw to stir gently 1–2 times to combine syrup/juice with the carbonated water without losing too much effervescence.

  7. 7

    Garnish and serve

Add a lemon or lime wedge on the rim if desired. Serve immediately while fizzy.

Still Water (table water)

  1. 8

    Chill glass

Optional: chill glass in freezer for 5 minutes or fill briefly with ice water and discard to keep water colder longer.

  2. 9

    Prepare ice (optional)

If using, place 4 ice cubes into a glass.

  3. 10

    Pour still water

Pour 1 cup (approx. 240 ml) cold still or bottled water into the glass over the ice if used.

  4. 11

    Add garnish (optional)

Add a slice of lemon or cucumber for a subtle flavor if desired.

  5. 12

    Serve

Serve immediately to enjoy chilled still water.
