Fresh Orange-Carrot-Ginger Juice

Method

Fresh Orange-Carrot-Ginger Juice

  1. 1

    Prep

Wash and dry carrots thoroughly. Peel and roughly chop carrots into pieces that will fit your juicer or blender feed chute. Peel and segment the oranges, removing as many seeds as possible. Peel the ginger and slice into thin pieces.

  2. 2

    Using a Juicer

Feed carrot pieces, orange segments, and ginger through a centrifugal or masticating juicer according to the manufacturer's instructions. Collect juice in a pitcher. Stir and taste.

  3. 3

Using a Blender (if no juicer)

Place carrots, orange segments, ginger, and 1 cup cold water in a high-speed blender. Blend on high until completely smooth, about 45-60 seconds. Pour mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or nut milk bag over a bowl, pressing or squeezing to extract as much liquid as possible. Reserve pulp for another use.

  4. 4

    Finish & Adjust

If desired, add ice cubes to the pitcher and stir to chill. Taste the juice and add honey or agave 1 tsp at a time if you prefer it sweeter. Serve immediately over ice for best flavor and nutrient retention.

Creamy Banana-Almond Milk (no-cook)

  1. 5

    Prep

If not already soaked, quickly soak almonds in very hot water for 15-20 minutes to soften, then drain. Chill almond milk and bananas if you prefer a colder drink.

  2. 6

    Blend

In a blender combine peeled bananas, soaked/drained almonds, chilled almond milk, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, maple syrup (if using) and ice cubes (if using). Blend on high until completely smooth and frothy, about 45 seconds to 1 minute. Stop and scrape down the sides if needed, then blend again.

  3. 7

    Strain (optional)

For an ultra-smooth texture, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a pitcher, pressing with a spatula. This step is optional — leaving it unstrained yields a thicker, smoothie-like milk.

  4. 8

    Serve

Taste and adjust sweetness or cinnamon if desired. Pour into glasses and serve immediately chilled. Shake or stir before serving if it has been sitting.
