Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a chilled coupe or martini glass in the freezer for at least 5 minutes or fill it with ice and cold water while you prepare the cocktail; discard ice water before pouring.

2

Measure and combine

In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vodka, 1 oz orange liqueur, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz cranberry juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes orange bitters.

3

Add ice

Add about 1 cup of ice to the shaker (enough to fill roughly two-thirds of the shaker) to properly chill and dilute the drink.

4

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker becomes very cold and you hear the ice slapping vigorously — this chills and slightly dilutes the cocktail for balance.

5

Double-strain and serve

Remove ice from the chilled glass if used. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch any small ice shards or pulp for a silky texture.

6

Garnish

Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist over the surface and pinching it so the oils spray onto the cocktail, then sweep the twist around the rim and drop it into the glass or rest on the rim.

7

Serve

Serve immediately while cold. Advise to sip slowly to appreciate the citrus and cranberry balance.
