Cooking Directions
Prepare the Ribs
Preheat your oven to 150°C (300°F). Rinse the ribs under cold water and pat dry. Season the ribs with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder on both sides.
Bake the Ribs
Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil. Cover tightly with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until tender.
Make the Guava BBQ Sauce
In a saucepan, combine guava paste, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, smoked paprika, chili powder, salt, and black pepper. Cook over medium heat, stirring until the guava paste is melted and the sauce is well combined.
Apply Sauce and Finish Cooking
Once the ribs are tender, remove them from the oven, and discard the foil. Brush the guava BBQ sauce generously over the ribs. Increase the oven temperature to 200°C (400°F) and return the ribs to the oven for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the sauce is caramelized.
Serve
Remove from the oven, let the ribs rest for a few minutes, then cut into portions and serve with extra guava BBQ sauce on the side.
