Chill & Prepare

  1. 1

    Chill bottle

Ensure the Mexican Coke is well chilled before serving. Place the glass bottle in the refrigerator for at least 1–2 hours or in an ice-filled cooler for 20–30 minutes until cold to the touch.

  2. 2

If using a lime garnish, wash the lime and cut a thin wheel or wedge (about 1/8–1/4 inch thick). If you prefer a squeeze of lime, halve the lime.

  3. 3

Prepare a serving glass by filling it with about 1 cup of ice. Use crushed ice if desired; otherwise use large cubes to slow dilution.

Assemble

  1. 4

Open the chilled glass bottle of Mexican Coke. Hold the bottle upright and pour slowly into the prepared glass over the ice to preserve carbonation and reduce foaming.

  2. 5

If using a wheel or wedge: place the lime on the rim or float it in the glass. If using a squeeze: squeeze half the lime over the Coke, then drop the spent half into the glass for extra aroma and flavor.

  3. 6

Optional: slap a mint sprig between your palms to release oils and tuck it into the glass as an aromatic garnish (do not muddle into the drink).

  4. 7

Serve immediately with a straw or sipping directly from the glass. Enjoy chilled.
