Avocado Add-In

Method

Avocado Add-In

  1. 1

    Prepare Avocado

Wash the avocado skin under cool water. Slice the avocado lengthwise around the pit. Twist the two halves apart. Remove the pit by gently tapping it with the edge of a chef's knife so it lodges, then twist to lift out, or scoop out with a spoon if preferred.

  2. 2

    Scoop and Mash

Scoop the avocado flesh from the skin into a small bowl using a spoon. For a chunkier add-in, roughly mash with a fork until you reach the desired texture (small chunks). For a creamier add-in, mash thoroughly until smooth.

  3. 3

    Season

Immediately drizzle the lime juice over the mashed avocado and fold to combine (this prevents browning and adds brightness). Add the sea salt, black pepper and olive oil, and mix until evenly distributed.

  4. 4

    Optional Mix-ins

If using, fold in the chopped cilantro and diced red onion. Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt, pepper, or lime juice as needed.

  5. 5

    Serve or Store

Add the prepared avocado directly to your dish as an add-in (salads, bowls, sandwiches, tacos). If not using immediately, transfer to an airtight container, press a piece of plastic wrap directly against the surface to minimize air contact, and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
