Pretzel Dough
Beer Cheese Sauce
Method
Pretzel Preparation
Prepare the Dough
In a large bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until foamy. Add melted butter and salt, then gradually mix in the flour until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Shape the Pretzels
Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C). Divide the dough into 6-8 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope, then twist into a pretzel shape. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Boil and Bake
In a large pot, bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil. Boil each pretzel for about 30 seconds, then return to the baking sheet. Sprinkle with coarse sea salt and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
Beer Cheese Sauce Preparation
Make the Sauce
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the cream cheese and beer. Stir until smooth. Gradually add in the cheddar cheese, stirring until melted. Mix in garlic powder, onion powder, and hot sauce to taste.
Serve
Serve the pretzels warm with the beer cheese sauce on the side for dipping.
