Crispy Calamari

Method

Preparation and Cooking

1

Prepare the Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

2

Coat the Calamari

In a large bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. In another bowl, beat the eggs. Dip each calamari ring first into the egg, then into the flour mixture, shaking off any excess. Finally, roll the calamari in breadcrumbs to coat evenly.

3

Heat the Oil

In a large, deep skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

4

Fry the Calamari

Carefully add the coated calamari to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried calamari to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

5

Serve

Serve the crispy calamari hot with marinara sauce on the side for dipping.
