Prepare glass
If using a sugared rim, rub a cut orange wedge around the rim of a chilled champagne flute or coupe, then dip the rim into superfine sugar laid flat on a plate. Chill the glass for 1–2 minutes while you assemble the drink.
Mix base
Fill a cocktail shaker or mixing glass halfway with ice. Pour in 4 oz freshly squeezed orange juice and 0.5 oz Grand Marnier. Stir briskly for about 10–15 seconds to chill and slightly dilute the mixture.
Assemble cocktail
Strain the orange juice/Grand Marnier mixture into the prepared chilled flute, filling it roughly two-thirds full (about 3–3.5 oz).
Garnish
Garnish with an orange wheel hung on the rim or a thin orange twist expressed over the top to release oils. Serve immediately while sparkling.
