Method
Cocktail
- 1
Prepare shaker
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes (about 4 cubes) or use crushed ice for a slushier texture.
- 2
Add spirits and liqueurs
Pour 1.5 oz light rum, 0.5 oz dark rum, 0.5 oz banana liqueur, and 0.5 oz blackberry liqueur into the shaker.
- 3
Add juices and syrup
Add 1.5 oz orange juice, 1.5 oz pineapple juice, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, and 0.25 oz simple syrup to the shaker.
- 4
Bitters
Add 1 dash of Angostura bitters to the mixture.
- 5
Shake
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the shaker is well chilled and the outside becomes frosty.
- 6
Serve
Fill a highball or hurricane glass with crushed ice (approximately 1 cup). Strain the shaken cocktail over the crushed ice. If you prefer more fruit-forward layers, you can pour over crushed ice slowly to let liqueurs settle.
- 7
Float dark rum (optional)
If you want a layered presentation, gently float an additional 0.25 oz dark rum on top by pouring it over the back of a spoon.
Garnish & Finish
- 8
Garnish the drink with an orange wheel and a maraschino cherry on a pick. Add a mint sprig for aroma if desired.
- 9
Serve immediately with a straw. Stir before drinking to combine any floated rum with the cocktail.
