Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Fill a coupe or Nick & Nora glass with ice or place in freezer to chill while you prepare the drink (about 3–5 minutes).

  2. 2

Add rye whiskey, Campari, sweet vermouth, apricot liqueur, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and Angostura bitters to a mixing glass or cocktail shaker.

  3. 3

Fill the mixing glass with ice (enough to come near the top) and stir vigorously for 20–30 seconds until well-chilled and properly diluted (about 15–25% dilution depending on ice). If you prefer a slightly brighter texture, you may double-strain from a shaker instead.

  4. 4

Discard ice from the chilled glass and strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora through a Hawthorne or julep strainer (use a fine mesh if any small chips of ice are present).

Garnish & Serve

  1. 5

Express the orange twist over the surface of the cocktail by holding it over the glass, skin side down, and giving it a quick pinch to release the oils. Run the twist around the rim if desired, then drop it into the drink.

  2. 6

Optionally, add a Luxardo cherry on a pick balanced across the rim or dropped into the glass.

  3. 7

Serve immediately. The cocktail yields one serving.
