Cider Cocktail

Method

Cider Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare ingredients to ensure the drink stays cold and crisp.

  2. 2

    Mix base

In a mixing glass or small shaker without ice, combine the bourbon, lemon juice, maple syrup, ginger liqueur (if using), and Angostura bitters. Stir or briefly shake (5–8 seconds) to combine and slightly chill the mixture.

  3. 3

    Prepare glass

Discard the ice water from the chilled rocks glass (if used). Add 2–3 large ice cubes (or one large ice sphere) to the glass.

  4. 4

    Build the cocktail

Strain the mixed spirit-and-syrup base over the ice in the prepared glass. Carefully top with 12 oz (one standard can or about 150–360 ml depending on can) of Angry Orchard hard cider — pour slowly down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation and avoid overflow.

  5. 5

    Finish and garnish

Gently stir once with a bar spoon (1–2 rotations) to integrate the cider and spirit base without losing too much fizz. Garnish with the apple slice on the rim and a cinnamon stick laid across the glass (if using).

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve immediately while the cider is cold and effervescent. Offer a straw or sip-stirrer if desired.
