If possible, chill a copper mule mug or highball glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes before preparing the drink.

Add 2 oz vodka, 0.5 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz cranberry juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters directly over the ice.

Top with 4 oz ginger beer. Stir gently once or twice with a bar spoon to combine without flattening the ginger beer's bubbles.

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim, drop in 2–3 fresh cranberries and add a mint sprig if desired. Serve immediately with a short straw.
