Crust

Method

Crust

1

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9-inch pie pan.

2

In a bowl, mix chocolate cookie crumbs, sugar, and melted butter until the mixture resembles wet sand.

3

Press crust mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of the pan to form an even crust.

4

Bake crust for 8-10 minutes until set. Remove and let cool completely before filling.

Mud filling

5

In a heatproof bowl, combine chocolate chips and heavy cream. Heat gently until the chocolate is melted and smooth, stirring often.

6

Stir in melted butter, vanilla, and coffee (if using) until fully incorporated.

7

Pour the ganache-like filling into the cooled crust and smooth the top.

Topping

8

Whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form.

9

Spread or pipe the whipped cream over the cooled filling.

10

Sprinkle chopped pecans or chocolate shavings on top.

Chill and serve

11

Refrigerate the assembled dessert for at least 2 hours, or until set.

12

Slice into 8 servings and serve chilled.
