Method
Prepare & Shake
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with fresh ice (about 1 cup).
Measure and pour 2 oz vodka into the shaker.
Add 0.75 oz orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec) to the shaker.
Add 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lime juice (about half a lime) to the shaker.
Add 1 oz cranberry juice to the shaker. Use less for drier, more for sweeter/pinker; this ratio keeps the color bright without overpowering.
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted. This both chills and dilutes to the right level.
Strain & Garnish
Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or martini glass using the shaker's strainer and a fine mesh strainer (this removes small ice shards and pulp for a silkier texture).
Express an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the cocktail and giving it a quick bend to release the oils, then run the rim with the peel and drop it into the drink (or garnish with a lime wheel if preferred).
Serve immediately. Optionally, adjust sweetness on future pours by increasing cranberry juice by 0.25–0.5 oz or reducing it for a drier profile.
