Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and cold water while you prepare the cocktail to chill it.

2

Combine ingredients

Add 1 oz bourbon, 1 oz Aperol, 1 oz amaro (such as Amaro Nonino) and 1 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice into a cocktail shaker.

3

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with plenty of ice (enough to chill and dilute properly), secure the lid, and shake vigorously for about 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is very cold and slightly frosted.

4

Prepare glass

If you used ice to chill the glass, dump the ice and water now. If it was in the freezer, simply retrieve the glass.

5

Double strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to remove small ice shards and any lemon pulp for a clean presentation.

6

Garnish

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, rub it on the rim if desired, then drop it in or rest a thin lemon wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.
