Base tea + liquor

Sweetener & citrus

Garnish & optional aromatics

Method

Base tea + liquor

1

Brew the tea

Place the loose leaf tea (about 1 tablespoon) in an infuser or use 1 tea bag and pour 8 oz (approx. 240 ml) boiling water over it. Cover and steep for 3–4 minutes for a balanced, aromatic brew (longer for stronger bergamot flavor). Remove infuser or tea bag and discard leaves.

2

Combine with spirit

Add 1.5 oz bourbon or dark rum to a heatproof mug. Pour the freshly brewed hot Earl Grey directly into the mug and stir gently to combine.

Sweetener & citrus

3

While the tea is still hot, stir in 1 tablespoon honey until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice, taste, and adjust — add up to another 1/4 oz lemon if you prefer brighter acidity or a touch more honey for sweetness. Stir to combine.

Garnish & optional aromatics

4

Garnish with a lemon wheel or twist perched on the rim. If using, add a single star anise or a small sprig of thyme/rosemary into the mug for aromatic interest. Clap the herb between your hands briefly before adding to release essential oils. Serve immediately while hot.
