Method
Prepare glass
Mix cocktail
Combine ingredients
Add 1 oz gin, 1 oz Lillet Blanc (or Cocchi Americano), 1 oz Cointreau (or other orange liqueur) and 3/4 oz fresh lemon juice into a cocktail shaker.
Add ice
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup) to properly chill and dilute the drink.
Shake
Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the shaker is very cold and well-aerated. The Corpse Reviver #2 is traditionally served well chilled and slightly diluted.
Strain
Discard the ice/water from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Double-strain (using a fine mesh strainer in addition to the shaker strainer) into the prepared chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass to remove any small ice shards and pulp from the lemon juice.
Finish with absinthe
If you performed an absinthe rinse earlier, the glass is already coated and no further absinthe is needed. If you set aside absinthe to float, gently pour 1/4 oz absinthe over the back of a spoon to float it on the surface of the cocktail.
Garnish & serve
Garnish with either a lemon twist (express oils over the surface and drop or discard) or a single Luxardo maraschino cherry on a skewer. Serve immediately.
