Ingredients for Smoky Brisket

Method

Directions for Preparing Smoky Brisket

1

Prepare the Brisket

In a bowl, mix smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt, and brown sugar. Rub the mixture all over the brisket.

2

Smoke the Brisket

Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C). Place the brisket in the smoker, using wood chips of your choice for smoke flavor. Smoke for about 8-10 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 195°F (90°C).

3

Prepare Garlic Mashed Potatoes

While the brisket is smoking, peel and chop the potatoes. Boil them in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to pot.

4

Mash the Potatoes

Add butter, minced garlic, and milk to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

5

Prepare Barbecue Onions

Slice onions and sauté in oil over medium heat until soft. Add barbecue sauce and simmer for 5 minutes.

6

Serve

Slice the smoked brisket and serve with garlic mashed potatoes, topped with barbecued onions, shredded cheddar cheese, and sliced scallions. Serve with red chili tortillas on the side.
