Cocktail
- 1
Chill glass
Place a cocktail glass (martini or coupe) in the freezer for at least 10 minutes or fill it with ice and water while you prepare the drink to chill it.
- 2
Measure and combine
Add 2.5 oz London dry gin, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.25 oz fresh lime juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 2 dashes orange bitters, and 1 dash Peychaud's or aromatic bitters (if using) into a mixing glass or shaker.
- 3
Mix with ice
Fill the mixing glass or shaker with plenty of fresh ice. Stir briskly for 20–30 seconds (or shake gently for a slightly more aerated, cloudier finish for 10–12 seconds) until well-chilled and properly diluted (about 1/4 oz dilution).
- 4
Strain
Discard the ice/water from the chilled cocktail glass if you used it to chill. Using a strainer, double-strain (if you shook) or fine-strain (if available) into the chilled cocktail glass to remove small ice chips.
Garnish & Finish
- 5
Express the lime
Hold a lime twist over the drink, skin side down, and give it a firm squeeze to express the essential oils across the surface of the cocktail. Run the twist around the rim of the glass if desired.
- 6
Garnish
Drop the expressed lime twist into the drink. Optionally add one Luxardo cherry on a pick and lay it across the rim or drop it into the cocktail for a touch of sweetness and visual contrast.
- 7
Serve immediately while cold.
