Preparation

Wine & Serving

1. Chill the bottle (if not already chilled)

If the bottle is at room temperature, prepare an ice bath: fill the ice bucket or large bowl with 1 liter of cold water and 1 cup of ice. Submerge the bottle up to the neck and leave for 15–20 minutes, turning once after 10 minutes, until the wine reaches about 8–12°C (46–54°F). If you have time, pre-chill the bottle in the refrigerator for 2–3 hours before serving.

2. Prepare glassware

Place wine glasses in the refrigerator for 15–30 minutes prior to serving if you prefer extra-chilled glasses. Alternatively, rinse them with cold water and let them air-dry briefly.

3. Open the bottle

Remove the foil capsule and use the wine opener to extract the cork cleanly. Wipe the neck of the bottle with a clean cloth or napkin to remove any cork fragments or dust.

4. Pouring and optional garnish

Hold the bottle at the base and pour slowly, filling each white wine glass about one-third full (approximately 120–150 ml per serving). If desired, add a thin lemon slice or lime wheel to the rim of each glass or drop a small mint sprig into the glass as a fragrant garnish. For very casual service or warm weather, you can add one or two ice cubes to the glass, but be aware this will dilute the wine as the ice melts.

5. Tasting notes & serving temperature

Serve Pinot Grigio at 8–12°C (46–54°F). Note tasting characteristics: typically light-bodied, crisp acidity, with flavors of green apple, pear, citrus, and subtle floral notes. Encourage guests to swirl gently, breathe for a moment, and sip to appreciate the wine's aroma and balance.

6. Storage of remaining wine

If you do not finish the bottle, reseal with the original cork (inserted with the same side in) or a wine stopper and refrigerate upright. Consume within 2–4 days for best freshness. For longer preservation (several days), consider a vacuum wine preserver or inert-gas wine preserver.

Glassware & Tools

7. Set out chilled wine glasses and any garnishes on a small tray. Use the tongs or scoop to handle ice hygienically when preparing the ice bath or adding ice to glasses. Keep the opened bottle in the ice bucket if ambient temperature is warm to maintain serving temperature.
