Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare shaker

Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup recommended) to properly chill and dilute the drink.

2

Add spirits and citrus

Into the shaker add 2 oz Tennessee whiskey, 1 oz triple sec, 1 oz fresh lemon juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup.

3

Bitters

Add 2 dashes of Angostura bitters to the shaker to introduce aromatic complexity and balance the sweetness.

4

Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker becomes frosty and well chilled. This both chills and lightly dilutes the cocktail.

5

Strain

Double-strain (using the shaker's strainer and a fine mesh if available) into a chilled old-fashioned glass or coupe filled with fresh ice, depending on preference. For a slightly stronger presentation use a single large ice cube in an old-fashioned glass; for a more refreshing serve, use cubed ice.

6

Garnish

Garnish with 1 lemon wheel and 1 maraschino cherry skewered together. Optionally add a lemon twist expressed over the drink and a sprig of fresh mint for aroma.

7

Serve

Serve immediately while cold. Provide a short stirring pick or straw if desired.
