Method
Cocktail
Prepare glass
Take a chilled rocks or coupe glass. Rub the lime wedge around the outer rim of the glass (or the top lip for a coupe). Pour the fine sea salt onto a small plate, then gently press and rotate the moistened rim into the salt to coat evenly. Tap off any excess salt. Set the prepared glass aside in the refrigerator or freezer to chill while you mix the cocktail.
Combine ingredients
Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice (about 1 cup). Add the reposado tequila (2 oz), orange liqueur (1 oz), fresh lime juice (1 oz), and agave syrup (0.5 oz) to the shaker.
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the exterior of the shaker becomes frosty and the mixture is well-chilled and slightly diluted.
Strain and serve
If using a rocks glass: add a large ice cube or sphere to the prepared glass. Double-strain the cocktail from the shaker into the glass over the large ice cube (use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer if available) to remove small ice shards and pulp. If using a coupe: double-strain into the chilled, salt-rimmed coupe without additional ice.
Garnish
Garnish with the reserved lime wedge or a thin wheel of lime placed on the rim or floated on the surface. Serve immediately.
Notes
Adjust sweetness by increasing or decreasing agave syrup by 0.25 oz increments. Use blanco tequila for a brighter flavor or añejo for a richer, oak-forward profile. Freshly squeezed lime juice is essential for balance; bottled lime juice will make the cocktail flat.
