Method
Cocktail
- 1
Combine and chill
Add Campari (1 oz), Solerno blood orange liqueur (0.5 oz), Amaro Montenegro (0.5 oz) and fresh lime juice (0.5 oz) to a cocktail shaker. If you prefer a touch more sweetness to balance bitterness, add simple syrup (0.25 oz).
- 2
Add ice and shake
Fill the shaker with ice (enough to three-quarters fill), cap, and shake vigorously for about 10β12 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.
- 3
Strain into glass
Strain the shaken mixture into a chilled flute or large coupe (or a rocks glass with fresh ice if you prefer). If using a flute or coupe, do not add ice in the glass.
- 4
Top with sparkling wine
Carefully top the cocktail with about 3 oz of chilled sparkling wine (brut or extra dry) to preserve effervescence. Pour slowly down the side of the glass to maintain a light mousse.
Garnish & Finish
- 5
Express the oils of a blood orange twist over the drink by holding the peel over the glass and giving it a quick bend, then drop the twist or place a blood orange wheel on the rim. Optionally float a thin lime wheel alongside the orange for visual contrast and a hint of fresh aroma.
- 6
Serve immediately while sparkling wine is lively. If served in a rocks glass over ice, stir gently once to integrate.
