Cake Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour six 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together sugar, eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract until well combined.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Stir in boiling water until smooth.

5

Bake the Layers

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared pans. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
