For making one cup of tea (single serving)

Method

Single cup preparation

1

Heat water

Pour 240 ml fresh, cold water into a kettle. Heat to appropriate temperature: for black tea heat to a rolling boil (~100°C / 212°F); for green tea heat to about 80°C (just before boiling) to avoid bitterness; for most herbal teas use boiling water (~100°C).

2

Warm cup (optional)

If desired, pour a little hot water into the cup to warm it, swirl for 10 seconds, then discard the water. This helps maintain infusion temperature.

3

Steep tea bag

Place 1 Twinings tea bag into the cup. Pour the heated water directly over the tea bag to release flavor. Steep for the recommended time: black tea 3–5 minutes (3 for lighter, 5 for stronger), green tea 2–3 minutes, herbal tea 5–7 minutes.

4

Remove bag and adjust

Remove the tea bag after the chosen steep time and gently press it against the cup’s side for a second if you want a slightly stronger brew (avoid squeezing too hard to prevent bitterness). Taste the tea.

5

Finish and serve

If desired, add sweetener (sugar or honey) to taste and stir until dissolved. For black tea, add 30 ml milk if you prefer milk tea. For black or herbal tea, add a lemon wedge if desired. Serve immediately.

Multiple cups (4 cups) preparation

6

Heat water

Measure 960 ml fresh, cold water and heat in a kettle. Use boiling water (~100°C) for black and herbal teas; heat to about 80°C for green tea.

7

Warm teapot or cups (optional)

If using a teapot, pour a little hot water into the pot and swirl to warm, then discard the water. This helps keep the infusion temperature stable.

8

Steep tea bags

Place 4 Twinings tea bags into the teapot or 4 cups. Pour the heated water over the tea bags. Steep for recommended times: black tea 3–5 minutes, green tea 2–3 minutes, herbal tea 5–7 minutes.

9

Remove tea bags and serve

Remove the tea bags after steeping. For teapot use, gently stir the tea then ladle into cups. Offer sweetener, honey, milk (about 120 ml for adding to multiple cups), and lemon wedges so guests can finish to taste.
