Smoothie Base

Sweetener & Flavor

Ice (optional for thicker texture)

Method

Smoothie Base

1

Prepare fruit

Peel the banana and break it into 2–3 pieces. Measure 1 cup frozen mixed berries. If berries are large (whole strawberries), halve them so the blender processes evenly.

2

Add dairy/plant base

Place the banana pieces, frozen berries, and 1 cup Greek yogurt into the blender jar.

3

Add liquid

Pour 3 tablespoons (listed as tbs) of unsweetened almond milk into the blender. This small amount keeps the smoothie thick; increase by 1–2 tablespoons if your blender struggles.

Sweetener & Flavor

4

Add 1 teaspoon honey or maple syrup and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract to the blender to enhance sweetness and aroma. Taste and adjust after blending if needed.

Boosters (optional)

5

If using boosters, add 1 teaspoon ground flaxseed, 1 scoop protein powder, and/or 1 cup packed fresh spinach now. Spinach blends smoothly and won’t noticeably change flavor.

Ice (optional for thicker texture)

6

Add 4 ice cubes if you want a colder, thicker smoothie. If your mixed berries are very icy/frozen, omit the ice to avoid over-thinning.

Blending & Serving

7

Blend

Secure lid and blend on high for 45–75 seconds, or until smooth and no large fruit chunks remain. Stop once to scrape down the sides with a spatula if needed, then blend an additional 10–15 seconds.

8

Adjust consistency & taste

If too thick, add 1 tablespoon almond milk at a time and pulse until desired consistency is reached. If too thin, add 2–4 more frozen berries or another ice cube and pulse briefly. Taste and add a little more honey/maple if desired.

9

Serve

Pour into a 16–20 oz glass. Optionally garnish with a few whole berries, a banana slice, or a sprinkle of ground flaxseed. Serve immediately.

Cleanup

10

Rinse blender jar immediately after pouring the smoothie to make cleanup easier. Wash with warm soapy water or run through the dishwasher if dishwasher-safe.
