Smoothie Base

Method

Prepare Ingredients

1

Assemble

Gather all ingredients. If using fresh berries instead of frozen, pre-chill or add extra ice to achieve a thick, chilled smoothie. Peel the banana and measure out yogurt, milk, and add-ins.

2

If you prefer a smoother texture, briefly grind the rolled oats in the blender first (10–15 seconds) before adding other ingredients.

Blend Smoothie

3

Add the frozen mixed berries (1.5 cups) and peeled banana (1 piece) to the blender jar.

4

Spoon in the Greek yogurt (0.5 cups) and pour the almond milk (1 cup) over the fruit to help everything move freely.

5

Add the oats (2 tbs), chia seeds (1 tsp), and peanut butter (1 tbs). If using spinach (0.5 cups), add it now so it blends evenly.

6

Add the honey or maple syrup (1 tbs) for sweetness. If you like a thicker texture, add the ice cubes (4 pieces).

7

Secure the lid and blend on medium-high for 45–60 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides once or twice with a spatula. Blend until smooth and no large fruit or oat pieces remain. If mixture is too thick, add up to 1/4 cup (60 ml) more milk and blend briefly; if too thin, add 2–4 more ice cubes or 1/4 cup frozen berries and blend again.

Serve & Garnish

8

Pour the smoothie into a 16 oz (about 475 ml) glass or two small glasses. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed (add an extra 1/2 tbs honey or syrup and stir).

9

Garnish with a fresh berry or a banana slice on the rim. Optionally sprinkle a few extra chia seeds or a dusting of oats on top for presentation.

10

Serve immediately for best texture. Refrigerate leftovers in a sealed container for up to 24 hours and shake or re-blend before drinking.
