Method

Preparation of Lamb Shank

1

Sear the Lamb Shanks

In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the lamb shanks with salt and black pepper, then sear them in the pot until browned on all sides. Remove and set aside.

2

Sauté Onions and Garlic

In the same pot, add chopped onions and minced garlic. Sauté until the onions are translucent.

3

Add Mushrooms

Add sliced mushrooms to the pot and cook until they are soft.

4

Deglaze the Pot

Pour in the red wine, scraping the bottom of the pot to release any browned bits. Let it simmer for a few minutes.

5

Add Broth and Herbs

Add the beef broth, thyme, and bay leaf. Return the lamb shanks to the pot, cover, and let simmer on low heat for 2-3 hours until the meat is tender.

Mashed Potatoes

6

Cook the Potatoes

Peel and chop the potatoes into uniform pieces. Boil in salted water until tender, about 20 minutes.

7

Mash the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add butter, milk, salt, and black pepper. Mash until creamy and smooth.
