Passion Fruit Nectar
Method
Passion Fruit Nectar
- 1
Prepare the pulp
Cut fresh passion fruits in half and scoop out the pulp with seeds into a measuring cup until you have 1 cup of pulp. If using frozen pulp, thaw and measure.
- 2
Make simple mix
In a pitcher, combine 1 cup passion fruit pulp and 2 cups cold water. Stir gently to begin hydrating the pulp.
- 3
Sweeten
Add 1 tablespoon granulated sugar to the pitcher. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Taste and add up to 1 additional tablespoon if you prefer sweeter nectar.
- 4
Brighten with lime
Stir in 2 teaspoons fresh lime juice. This balances sweetness and enhances the fruit's aroma.
- 5
Strain (optional)
If you prefer a seed-free nectar, pour the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve into a second pitcher or bowl, pressing gently on the solids with the back of a spoon to extract as much juice as possible. Discard seeds and remaining pulp.
- 6
Chill and serve
Add ice cubes to glasses, pour the nectar over the ice, and garnish with mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately. Alternatively chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for 30โ60 minutes and serve cold.
- 7
Storage
Cover and refrigerate any leftover nectar for up to 48 hours. Stir before serving as separation may occur.
