Method

Prepare glass and ice

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare ingredients to chill it.

  2. 2

Remove the glass from the freezer or discard the ice water. Fill the glass with fresh ice cubes (about 1 cup) so the drink stays cold and fizzy.

Mix drink

  1. 3

Pour 1 cup of Maltín Polar (or similar malt soda) into a measuring cup or mixing glass.

  2. 4

Measure and add 1/2 cup club soda or carbonated water to lighten the malt's sweetness and boost effervescence. Add it gently to preserve fizz.

  3. 5

If you prefer a slightly brighter, less sweet profile, add 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice and 1 teaspoon simple syrup (or honey syrup). Stir gently once with a bar spoon to combine — do not over-stir to keep carbonation.

Finish and garnish

  1. 6

Strain or gently pour the combined malt soda mixture over the prepared glass filled with ice.

  2. 7

Garnish with a lime wheel or wedge on the rim and, if using, a small sprig of mint tucked into the ice for aroma.

  3. 8

Serve immediately with a straw or long spoon. Optionally provide extra lime wedges and simple syrup on the side for guests to adjust sweetness or acidity.
