Classic Coke (single serving)
Coke Float (optional variation, single serving)
Method
Classic Coke (single serving)
Chill and prepare glass
If Coca‑Cola is not already chilled, place the bottle or can in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes or in an ice bucket for 5–10 minutes. Select a clean highball or Collins glass and, if you like, chill the glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes.
Add ice
Place 4–6 medium ice cubes into the glass, leaving some room at the top for the soda to foam briefly when poured.
Pour Coke
Open a 12 oz chilled bottle or can of Coca‑Cola. Tilt the glass to about 45 degrees and slowly pour the Coke down the side of the glass to reduce foam. When the glass is about three‑quarters full, straighten it and finish pouring until the liquid reaches near the rim, leaving a small gap for the foam.
Garnish and serve
If desired, squeeze a lime wedge over the surface and drop the wedge into the drink for a citrus accent. Add a stirrer or straw. Serve immediately while cold and fizzy.
Coke Float (optional variation, single serving)
Prepare glass and ice cream
Chill a tall glass briefly if desired. Place 2 generous scoops of vanilla ice cream into the glass.
Add Coke
Slowly pour about 8 oz chilled Coca‑Cola over the ice cream. Pour gently to control foam; pause if foaming gets too vigorous, then continue until the glass is nearly full.
Serve
Add 2–3 small ice cubes if you want the float colder (optional). Serve immediately with a long spoon and straw.
