Classic Canada Dry Highball

Method

Classic Canada Dry Highball

1

Chill glass

If possible, chill a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water to cool while you gather ingredients.

2

Add ice

Fill the chilled glass about three-quarters full with fresh ice cubes.

3

Pour spirit

Measure and pour 1.5 oz bourbon or whiskey over the ice. (If you prefer a lighter drink, use 1 oz.)

4

Add lime

Squeeze about 0.5 oz (half a fresh lime) of fresh lime juice into the glass. Drop in the spent lime half if you like extra aroma.

5

Top with ginger ale

Carefully pour 12 oz Canada Dry ginger ale down the side of the glass to preserve carbonation and avoid overflowing. Gently stir once or twice with a bar spoon to combine—do not over-stir to keep fizz.

6

Garnish and serve

Finish with a lime wedge or wheel on the rim. Serve immediately with a straw or stirrer.
