Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In another bowl, cream together the unsalted butter and the remaining granulated sugar until light and fluffy.

  4. 4

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, mixing until fully incorporated.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Start with the dry ingredients and end with them, mixing until just combined.

  6. 6

    Pour into Pan

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.

  7. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  8. 8

    Cool

Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Preparation of Toppings

  1. 9

    Prepare Berries

While the cake is cooling, rinse the fresh strawberries and raspberries under cold water. Pat them dry with a paper towel.

  2. 10

    Slice Strawberries

Slice the strawberries into halves or quarters, depending on your preference.

  3. 11

    Prepare Serving

Once the cake has cooled, cut it into squares and place on serving plates.

  4. 12

    Top the Cake

Top each square of cake with a generous dollop of whipped cream, and scatter the sliced strawberries and raspberries on top.

  5. 13

    Dust with Powdered Sugar

Dust the finished cake squares with powdered sugar before serving.
