Black Tea (base)

Unsweet Tea (per serving)
Method
Black Tea (base)
Steep tea
Place 2 black tea bags into a heatproof teapot or heatproof container. Pour the boiling water over the tea bags. Let steep 3 to 5 minutes depending on desired strength (3 minutes for lighter, 5 minutes for stronger).
Remove bags and cool
Remove and discard the tea bags, gently pressing once against the side with a spoon to extract flavor. Allow the tea to cool briefly (about 5 minutes) if serving over ice, or keep hot if serving hot.
Sweet Tea (per serving)
Dissolve sugar (hot method)
While the tea is still hot (but not boiling), stir in 2 tablespoons granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Stir for about 15–30 seconds to ensure no graininess. This creates a concentrated sweetened tea for clear flavor.
Serve over ice
Fill a glass with 1 cup of ice. Pour the sweetened brewed tea over the ice, leaving a small gap at the top. Stir briefly to chill the tea evenly.
Garnish (optional)
Garnish with a lemon wedge on the rim or squeezed into the tea to taste. Serve immediately.
