Syrups & Mixes
Carbonated Water & Ice
Optional Garnishes & Add-ins
Method
Syrups & Mixes
Prepare individual flavor bases
Measure 2 tablespoons (approx. 1/8 cup) of each syrup/concentrate into separate small pitchers or containers for each flavor you intend to serve. For 4 servings of a single flavor use 1/2 cup syrup total; for mixed service keep syrups separate so you can make different drinks from the same station.
Optional cherry boost
If you want a cherry-flavored option (e.g., cherry cola or cherry soda), add 1/2 tablespoon grenadine to the cola syrup portion and stir gently to combine. Repeat per batch as desired.
Carbonated Water & Ice
Chill and prepare carbonated water
Keep carbonated water well chilled. For best carbonation retention, store in a chilled container or a soda gun line. Measure the total carbonated water you will need (about 1 1/2 cups per 8-ounce serving) and keep it cold until dispensing.
Fill glasses with ice
Place 2 cups of ice cubes into each 16-ounce glass (roughly halfway to three-quarters full) so beverages remain cold and retain fizz when syrup is added.
Combine syrup and carbonated water (single-serve)
For a standard 12–16 oz fountain drink: pour 2 tablespoons (approx. 1 oz / 30 ml) of syrup into each glass (adjust to taste). Slowly pour 10–12 ounces (about 1 1/4 cups) of chilled carbonated water into the glass over the back of a spoon or down the side to preserve carbonation and limit foaming. Stir gently once with a straw or bar spoon 1–2 times to incorporate.
Combine for multiple servings
To prepare multiple drinks at once: mix syrups and carbonated water in a chilled pitcher at a 1:12 to 1:14 syrup-to-water ratio by volume (approximately 0.5 cup syrup to 6 cups carbonated water = ~1:12). Stir gently just until combined, then pour over ice-filled glasses.
Optional Garnishes & Add-ins
Finish and garnish
Add a lemon wedge, orange slice, or a maraschino cherry to each glass as desired. Insert a straw. Serve immediately to preserve carbonation.
Serving suggestions & variations
For diet options use the diet cola syrup with the same ratio. For floats, add a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of a serving of root beer or cola; reduce ice to one cup to make room. For a custom mix (e.g., cola + orange), combine measured portions of two syrups in the glass (total syrup volume remains about 2 tbsp per 12–16 oz serving) before adding carbonated water.
