Method

Cocktail

1

Prepare glass

Chill a coupe or rocks glass in the freezer for 5 minutes or fill with ice and set aside while you make the cocktail.

2

Muddle berries

In a cocktail shaker, add the fresh berries (3 each) and the mixed berry purée (0.75 oz). Gently muddle until the berries are broken down and combined with the purée, releasing juices but not pulverizing the seeds.

3

Build and shake

Add dry gin (2 oz), elderflower liqueur (0.75 oz), fresh lemon juice (0.75 oz), simple syrup (0.5 oz) and 6 cubes of ice to the shaker with the muddled berries. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker is frosty and well-chilled.

4

Strain

Discard the ice from the chilled glass if you used it to chill. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or a rocks glass filled with fresh ice (about 1 cup) using a fine mesh strainer over the Hawthorne strainer to remove seeds and pulp for a smooth drink.

5

Top (optional)

If you prefer a lighter, slightly effervescent finish, top with approximately 1 oz club soda. Gently stir once with a bar spoon to integrate.

6

Garnish and serve

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, then garnish with the twist and an optional fresh mint sprig. Serve immediately.
