Produce

Method

Prep

1

Wash and prepare produce

Thoroughly wash the oranges, carrot, apple, lemon, and ginger under cool running water. Use a small brush on the apple and carrot if needed to remove dirt.

2

Peel and trim

Peel the oranges and remove as much of the white pith as comfortable (some pith is fine). Peel the lemon and remove seeds if visible. Trim carrot ends and quarter if large. Core the apple and cut into pieces suitable for your juicer or blender. Peel the ginger and slice thinly.

Juicing (for a juicer)

3

Juice fruits and vegetables

Feed the orange segments, carrot pieces, apple pieces, lemon, and ginger through your juicer in batches. Collect the juice in a clean pitcher. If the juicer produces foam, skim it off with a spoon for a clearer juice.

4

Adjust and dilute

Stir in up to 1 cup cold water to adjust intensity and mouthfeel. Taste and add honey or maple syrup (start with 1 tablespoon) if you want more sweetness. Add a pinch of salt if flavors need brightening.

5

Chill and serve

Add ice cubes to individual glasses if desired, pour juice over ice, stir briefly, and serve immediately for best flavor and nutrients.

Blender method (if no juicer)

6

Blend ingredients

Place orange segments, carrot pieces, apple pieces, lemon, ginger, and 1/2 cup of the cold water in a high-speed blender. Blend on high until very smooth, about 45–60 seconds. If mixture is too thick, add remaining 1/2 cup water and blend another 15–30 seconds.

7

Strain (optional)

If you prefer a clear juice, pour the blended mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl or pitcher, pressing with a spatula to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard or save the pulp for another use (baked goods, smoothies, compost).

8

Sweeten and serve

Taste and add honey or maple syrup if desired and a pinch of salt to enhance flavor. Stir, pour over ice if desired, and serve immediately.
