Fill a mixing glass or the chilled serving glass with ice (use the cubed ice specified in ingredients).
- 3
Measure and pour 1.5 oz Campari over the ice.
- 4
Add 3 oz freshly squeezed orange juice. Fresh juice is preferred for brightness; shake or stir gently depending on serving method.
- 5
Taste the mixture. If the juice is very tart or you prefer a slightly sweeter profile, add up to 0.25 oz simple syrup and gently stir to combine. The classic Garibaldi is often unsweetened, so syrup is optional.
- 6
If using a mixing tin: stir briefly for 10–15 seconds to chill and lightly dilute. If building in the serving glass: gently roll or stir the drink once to mix ingredients without over-diluting.
- 7
Discard any ice water from the chilled glass (if used). If you used a mixing glass or shaker, strain the cocktail into the prepared highball or Collins glass filled with fresh ice. If you built the drink directly in the serving glass, simply top up with fresh ice if needed.
- 8
Garnish with an orange wheel or a twist. Serve immediately.
