Method

Base Preparation

1

Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

3

Cream Butter and Eggs

In another bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.

5

Bake the Base

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6

Cool the Base

Remove from the oven and allow to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Shine Topping Preparation

7

Prepare the Shine

In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.

8

Apply the Shine

Once the base is completely cooled, drizzle the shine topping over the top, allowing it to flow down the sides.

9

Set and Serve

Let the topping set for about 15 minutes before slicing into squares and serving.
