Method

Serving Whitehall Lane, Napa

1

Chill the bottle

Refrigerate the bottle of Whitehall Lane Napa Valley Chardonnay for at least 2 hours before serving, or place it in an ice bucket with a 1:1 mixture of ice and cold water for 20–30 minutes until it reaches 45–50°F (7–10°C).

2

Prepare glassware

Select appropriate white wine glasses (Bordeaux or tulip-shaped). Ensure glasses are clean and free of odors. Optionally pre-chill glasses briefly in the fridge for 10–15 minutes.

3

Optional ice for casual service

If serving casually (outdoors or very warm conditions), add up to 1/2 cup of ice to a chilled wine bucket or a single glass. Note: adding ice directly to the wine glass will dilute and chill the wine more rapidly; prefer an ice-filled bucket for best flavor retention.

4

Open and decant (optional)

Remove capsule and cork. Inspect the cork for signs of spoilage. Pour a small taste to check for faults (cork taint, excessive oxidation). For this style of Napa Chardonnay, decanting for 10–15 minutes can open aromatics, but it is not required.

5

Pour

Pour 4–6 oz (120–180 ml) of Chardonnay per glass, filling to the widest point of the bowl to allow aromas to concentrate. Leave some space to swirl.

6

Garnish and pair

If desired, add a lemon twist to the rim for a light citrus accent. Serve with 4 oz (115 g) of assorted cheeses and charcuterie per 2 people—fresh goat cheese, mild Brie, and roasted almonds complement Napa Chardonnay well.

7

Enjoy

Swirl gently, sniff to appreciate the wine's aromas (stone fruit, vanilla, oak), then sip. Re-cork the bottle if not finished and store upright in the refrigerator for up to 3–5 days; consume sooner for best flavor.
