Choose glassware

Select a suitable glass: an old fashioned glass for a relaxed serve with ice, or a tulip snifter for neat tasting to concentrate the aromas.

If serving with ice, place one large ice cube in the glass. A single large cube chills without quickly diluting the cognac.

Measure 2 oz (60 ml) of Hennessy VS and pour it gently into the prepared glass over the ice cube if using.

If serving neat (no ice), pour 2 oz (60 ml) into the snifter and let it sit a moment to warm slightly in your hand for 20–30 seconds to release aromatics.

Optionally express an orange twist over the glass: hold the twist with the outside facing down, give it a firm squeeze to release citrus oils over the spirit, then rub the rim with the peel and drop it into the glass.

Serve immediately. Encourage sipping slowly to appreciate the nose, palate, and finish.
