Colossal Cocktail Sauce

Fried Calamari

Method

Colossal Cocktail Sauce

1

Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, mix together the ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, salt, and black pepper until well combined. Adjust seasoning to taste, adding more horseradish or hot sauce if desired.

2

Chill

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Fried Calamari

3

Prepare Calamari

Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels. Set aside.

4

Prepare Breading Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix well.

5

Prepare Egg Mixture

In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk until smooth.

6

Coat Calamari

Dip each calamari ring into the egg mixture, then coat with the flour mixture, ensuring they are evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.

7

Heat Oil

In a large, deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

8

Fry Calamari

Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

9

Serve

Serve the fried calamari hot with the chilled cocktail sauce on the side for dipping.
