Method
Prepare glass (optional)
- 1
Rim the glass
If you like a salted/tajín rim, rub a lime wedge around the edge of a rocks or coupe glass. Dip the rim into a shallow plate with coarse salt or Tajín to coat. Set the glass aside to dry briefly.
Mix cocktail
- 2
Add 2 oz reposado tequila, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, 0.25 oz agave nectar, 1 oz fresh orange juice and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker.
- 3
Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is chilled and slightly frosted.
- 4
If you prefer the drink served on the rocks, fill the prepared glass with fresh ice. Strain the cocktail from the shaker into the glass. If you prefer it neat or slightly chilled, double-strain into the prepared chilled coupe or rocks glass without ice.
Finish & garnish
- 5
Express the oils of an orange twist over the drink by holding the twist skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick squeeze, then drop it into the drink (or float an orange wheel and optional lime wheel on top).
- 6
Serve immediately. The balance of reposado tequila, citrus and a touch of sweetness evokes a warm 'sunset' flavor profile.
