Cooking Instructions
Prepare the Chicken or Steak
Season the chicken or steak with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Let it rest for about 15 minutes.
Set Up Breading Station
In one bowl, place the buttermilk. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. In a third bowl, beat the eggs.
Bread the Chicken or Steak
Dip the seasoned chicken or steak into the buttermilk, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the flour mixture. Ensure it's thoroughly coated.
Fry the Chicken or Steak
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Carefully add the breaded chicken or steak to the hot oil and fry for about 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
Prepare the Mashed Potatoes
Prepare the mashed potatoes according to package instructions or your preferred recipe.
Make the Gravy
Prepare the country gravy according to the package instructions.
