Preparation
Muddle the Ingredients
In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the Thai basil leaves and simple syrup. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently crush the basil leaves to release their aromatic oils. Be careful not to tear the leaves too much.
Add Lime Juice and Rum
Pour in the fresh lime juice and white rum into the muddled mixture. Stir gently to combine the flavors.
Add Ice
Fill the glass or shaker with ice cubes to chill the mixture thoroughly.
Shake or Stir
If using a shaker, cover it and shake the mixture vigorously for about 10-15 seconds. If using a glass, stir well until combined and chilled.
Strain and Serve
Strain the mixture into a tall glass filled with fresh ice. Top with club soda for a refreshing fizz.
Garnishing
Garnish the Cocktail
Garnish your Thai Basil Mojito with a lime wedge and a sprig of Thai basil on top for a vibrant presentation.
