Chill the bottle to the ideal serving temperature of 10–12°C (50–54°F). Place the bottle in an ice bucket filled half with ice and half with cold water for 20–30 minutes, or refrigerate upright for 2–3 hours.

Optimal chilling

If you prefer faster chilling and have only a fridge, wrap the bottle in a damp cloth and set it in the freezer for 15–20 minutes — check frequently to avoid freezing.

Select clean white wine glasses (preferably tulip-shaped). Rinse with cold water and dry with a lint-free cloth to remove any odors or dust.

Arrange light antipasti on a serving tray: a selection of mild cheeses (e.g., Asiago, Taleggio), thinly sliced prosciutto, and a small bowl of olives. Keep flavors delicate to complement the Friulano’s floral and almond notes.

Place a lemon slice or a very thin lemon wheel on the side of a few glasses for guests who like a citrus hint. Do not squeeze into the wine — Friulano’s character is best left unmasked.

Hold the bottle firmly on a stable surface. Remove the foil capsule using a foil cutter or knife, exposing the cork.

Use a waiter’s corkscrew or wine key to insert the worm centered into the cork. Twist down until one spiral remains, then gently pull the cork out with a steady motion to avoid agitation.

Wipe the bottle mouth with a clean napkin or cloth to remove any cork fragments or residue.

Pour a small 30–60 ml (1–2 oz) tasting pour into the host’s glass. Swirl gently, sniff, and take a small sip to evaluate temperature and aroma. If the wine seems too warm, return the bottle to the ice bucket for another 10 minutes.

Pour 120–150 ml (4–5 oz) servings into each glass, filling to the widest part of the bowl to allow aromas to concentrate. Leave space at the top for swirling.

Encourage guests to observe the wine’s pale straw color with possible green hues, then swirl gently and smell for floral, pear, almond, and herbal notes typical of Friulano.

Sip slowly, noting the wine’s medium body, fresh acidity, and almond-tinged finish. Pair bites of the antipasti in between sips to experience complementary textures and flavors.

If any wine remains after serving, reseal with the cork (inserted cork-side down if natural) or a reusable wine stopper. Store upright in the refrigerator and consume within 2–3 days for best quality.
