Cocktail

1

Preheat glass

Warm a heatproof Irish coffee glass (8–10 oz) or mug by filling it with hot water and letting it sit 30–60 seconds. Discard the water and dry the glass.

2

Combine liqueurs

Pour 1.5 oz Frangelico and 1.5 oz Bailey's Irish Cream into the warmed glass.

3

Add coffee

Carefully pour 4 oz freshly brewed hot coffee into the glass, leaving about 1/2–3/4 inch of head space for the whipped cream. Stir gently for 5–10 seconds to combine the liqueurs and coffee. Taste and, if desired, add up to 1 tsp sugar or simple syrup and stir until dissolved.

4

Top with whipped cream

Using a spoon, gently dollop 2 tablespoons of lightly sweetened whipped cream on top of the coffee so it floats. For a more polished presentation, pipe the whipped cream with a pastry bag fitted with a large round tip.

5

Garnish and serve

Sprinkle 1 tsp chocolate shavings or a light dusting of cocoa powder over the whipped cream. Optionally place 1–2 whole coffee beans on top. If desired, drizzle 1 tsp hazelnut or chocolate syrup around the rim or over the cream. Serve immediately with a long-handled spoon.

Optional Add-ins

6

If you like a sweeter or more pronounced hazelnut/chocolate flavor, add 1 tsp sugar or simple syrup when you add the coffee and stir until dissolved. For an accentuated rim, brush the glass rim with a little Frangelico or hazelnut syrup and dip in sugar or cocoa before assembling the drink.
